Abstract


Media baru terus berkembang dengan pesat dan selalu membawa tren baru dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Dalam kurun waktu kurang dari satu dekade, muncul tren bentuk komunikasi baru dalam media sosial berupa platform mengunggah konten yang sifatnya sementara atau disebut ephemeral. Berawal dari aplikasi Snapchat, kini fitur ephemeral storytelling yang serupa telah banyak diadopsi platform lain baik media sosial maupun aplikasi pesan instan. Artikel ini meninjau bagaimana praktek ephemeral storytelling berkembang melalui perspektif industri teknologi komunikasi melalui metode kualitatif berupa tinjauan literatur dan analisis data sekunder. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah ephemeral storytelling banyak dimanfaatkan pengguna sebagai cara berinteraksi yang lebih apa adanya dan dekat dengan keseharian dan membangun kedekatan dengan sesama pengguna, serta dipandang sebagai industri yang akan terus berkembang saat ini.
