Abstract

This study focuses on knowing students' responses to the application of "MATLAB simulation" to the completion of calculations using MATLAB. This study uses a pre-test and post-test control group design research design with a quasi-experimental method of control and experimental classes. The study population was all mathematics education students in the 2019/2020 Academic Year Numerical Method of Odd Semester Methods. The sample selection is a random class, with class A as a control class of 30 student subjects and class B as an experimental class of 21 student subjects. Data analysis techniques with differences in the average test scores of the ability of students to complete the error calculation and questionnaire responses of students. As for the results of the study, seen a positive response to most students towards the application of "MATLAB Simulation". This was obtained from the pre-test and post-test in the experimental class obtained 65.09% and 72.59% classified as a strong category. While the average percentage of pre-test and post-test in the control class was 62.75% and 65.78% enough category. The level of students' ability in calculating and analyzing material completion through the application of "Matlab Simulation" shows the average gain of the experimental class by 0.215 and the control class by 0.081 then classified as sufficient categories, seen from the data that the application of "MATLAB simulation" is better than the application of conventional learning models.
