Abstract
The natural FAME separation process by utilizing the earth's gravitational force takes a minimum of 2 hours. By utilizing the centrifugation speed of the centrifuge, the FAME separation only needs to be done in 5 minutes. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the quantity of biodiesel from raw materials of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) using variations in the speed of centrifugation in the FAME separation process. The variations of the centrifugation speed used were 2000 Rpm and 4000 Rpm. This research was conducted experimentally using the transesterification method in the process of making biodiesel. The result will be seen an increase in the yield of each raw material. The results of the data show that for CPO raw material, the highest yield is obtained in the sample using a 4000 Rpm centrifugation speed of 82.34%. For VCO raw materials, the highest yield was obtained in samples using a centrifugation speed of 4000 Rpm at 81.55%. The increase in biodiesel quantity can also be seen with the increase in the centrifugation speed used during the FAME separation process.
