Abstract


The purpose of this research is applied to the dashboard of an electric car. The study used an epoxy resin matrix, OPEFB fiber and the addition of montmorillonite particles with a mesh of 200. Fiber treatment was treated with alkali with 15% NaOH for 2 hours. Researchers used variations of composite composition with a ratio of epoxy resin matrix : TKKS fiber : montmorillonite particles, namely 60%: 36%: 4%, 60%: 34%: 6% and 60%: 32%: 8%. Mechanical tests were carried out, namely impact tests and macro photos. The specimens were made using the hand lay up, press mold and curring methods according to the ASTM D5491 standard. The maximum value of impact toughness obtained a variation of 4%, namely 0.0739 J/m², while for the minimum value of impact toughness a variation of 8% was obtained, namely 0.0643 J/m². Analysis of the fracture cross-section of the impact toughness and bending strength composite shows the type of fiber pullout fracture.
