Abstract


General standards for the use of protection systems used in industry can work based on the requirements, and capabilities determined by the type of disturbance that occurs. The existence of a short circuit that occurs can cause many other dangers, one of which is arc flash. On the basis of the studies that have been carried out, namely the coordination of protection by calculating the amount of arc energy or arc flash in the electrical system of PT. Matrama Manunggal Jaya, through the simulation results using ETAP 12.06 software, it can be found that the coordination of the existing protection system of PT. Matrama Manunggal Jaya needs to be repaired. This is evidenced by the decreasing value of calculated energy incidents, due to trip time adjustments in the Reset activity. The results showed that the highest energy incident value typical 1 contained in Bus_1.1 experienced a decrease in energy incidence of 17.4 cal/cm2 which was originally feasible at 35.31 cal/cm2, but could be reduced to 17.91 cal/cm2. From the results of the reduction in energy incidents, the hazard category which was originally in category 4 became category 3 and it became a safe category according to the NFPA 70E - 2009 standard.
