Abstract

Concrete treatment is essential to do to maximize the strength of concrete.  Several concrete treatment methods can be applied.  The research was done by making concrete and treated with different methods to find the appropriate method. The test object is a cylindrical concrete with a diameter of 15 cm and a height of 30 cm. Concrete mix planning based on SNI 7656:2012. The type of treatment applied includes treatment by soaking in water and treatment by wrapping a membrane for 7 days. Concrete testing was carried out at the age of 28 days including compressive strength testing based on SNI 1974:2011, and split tensile strength testing based on SNI 2491:2014. The manufacture, treatment, and testing of specimens were carried out at the Structural Laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tidar University. The test results show that the average compressive strength of concrete with immersion treatment is 16.76 MPa, 11.3% higher than that of membrane treatment which is 14.86 MPa.  The average split tensile strength of concrete with soak treatment is 1.72 MPa, while with membrane treatment, it is 1.73 MPa.  The results showed that the treatment method used affected the compressive strength value but did not significantly affect the split tensile strength value.
