Abstract

The conversion of open land into residential and industrial areas makes green open space smaller for water absorption. Water that should be able to be absorbed into the ground is blocked by buildings and road pavements, so that water runs off to the surface and causes flooding. To overcome this problem, researchers made a permeable pavements that were applied to paving blocks which were expected to be able to increase the catchment area to reduce rainwater runoff and maintain the availability of ground water.

The method in research uses the experimental method. The variation of the test object used 2 independent variables, namely the size of the aggregate and the type of cement. Variations of test specimens based on aggregate size there are 4 variations with number codes (1, 2, 3, 4), each variation of aggregate size uses 3 variations of cement types with letter codes (A, B, C), so the total variation of test specimens is 12 variations test object.

The results of this study indicate that the variation of the sample that is close to the quality of the paving blocks used for pedestrian paths (B quality) is the B2 variation using 60% of the aggregate that passes the 3/8” sieve retained by the sieve no. 4 and 40% of the aggregate passed sieve no. 4 retained filter no. 8 with a binder in the form of masonry cement, has a compressive strength of 11,23 Mpa, a water absorption capacity of 5,05%, and an infiltration rate of 14.762,56 mm/hour.
