Peer Review Process

Peer Review Policy

Publication of articles in Jurnal Kalacakra: Ilmu Sosial dan Pendidikan is dependent solely on scientific validity and coherence as judged by our editors and/or peer reviewers, who will also assess whether the writing is comprehensible and whether the work represents a useful contribution to the field. Kalacakra acknowledged the effort and suggestions made by its reviewers. 

Initial evaluation of manuscripts

The Editor will first evaluate all manuscripts submitted. Although rare, yet it is entirely feasible for an exceptional manuscript to be accepted at this stage. Those rejected at this stage are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, or are outside the aims and scope of the Kalacakra. Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to experts for review.

Type of peer review

Submitted manuscripts will generally be reviewed by two to three experts who will be asked to evaluate whether the manuscript is scientifically sound and coherent, whether it duplicates the already published works, and whether or not the manuscript is sufficiently clear for publication.

Review reports

Reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:

  • Is original by stating the objectives and gap clearly
  • Is methodologically sound
  • Follows appropriate ethical guidelines
  • Has results/findings which are clearly presented and support the conclusions
  • Correctly references previous relevant work
  • Reviewers are not expected to correct or copyedit manuscripts. Language correction is not part of the peer review process.

Decision

Reviewers advise the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. The Editors will reach a decision based on these reports and, where necessary, they will consult with members of the Editorial Board. Editor’s decision is final.

Journal Kalacakra is a journal published twice in a year on Januari and Juli

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Jurnal Kalacakra: Ilmu Sosial dan Pendidikan is a peer-reviewed journal. This statement clarifies ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer and the publisher  (MKU Pendidikan pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan Faculty of Education and Teachers Training, Universitas Tidar). This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of a peer-reviewed article in of Jurnal Kalacakra: Ilmu Sosial dan Pendidikan is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the society.

 

Article Processing Charges

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Publication Charges: 300.000.00 (IDR)
Article Processing Charges (APCs) / Article Publication Fee: 300.000.00 (IDR), not including translation and proofing (at cost).

This journal charges the article publication fee for supporting the cost of wide open access dissemination of research results, managing the various costs associated with handling and editing of the submitted manuscripts, and the Journal management and publication in general, the authors or the author's institution is requested to pay a publication fee for each article accepted.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publication costs.

The waiver policy is given to the first author with affiliation from outside Indonesia.

The editor will asses and decision waive or not.

Charges are only for proofing articles (at cost).
