Abstract

Akhirnya, unsur-unsur kemanusiaan menjadi terabaikan.

ABSTRACT

The presence of queer people in Indonesia is still taboo. In fact, they have existed since before Indonesia could say Merdeka. Queerness has become a kind of culture that is also inherent in Indonesia. This is reflected in various tribes, which in fact recognize gender diversity. However, as time progressed and various issues were exposed, queers began to disappear from Indonesian civilization. Not infrequently, this disappearance is carried out through various discriminations in the public space. This research will discuss the struggle of queers to come out in the midst of a homophobic society in Indonesia. The theory that will be used in this research is Axel Honneth's recognition theory. The results of this study indicate that the discrediting of queers in Indonesia has reached the realm of government policy. A society that is homophobic and upholds heteronormativity has brought great discrimination against those who are different. Finally, the elements of humanity become neglected.
